Pennsylvania School Bus Safety Report (May 2023)

Pennsylvania has taken a leadership role in safeguarding the students that travel to and from school every day. Much work remains.

Our School Bus Safety Report is published monthly and covers the previous month. Have a look at results for April.

Please note that we have adjusted our reporting approach, which has resulted in a slight downward trend for both the Pennsylvania fleet count and the number of students safeguarded. Going forward, we expect the upward trend to resume.

As of April 2023 in Pennsylvania, only 7% of school buses are equipped with safety technology, safeguarding just 8.5% of the students that are transported on school buses every day.
