Experience: 5+ years’ experience working for an established law firm, as in-house counsel, or in state or local government. Must have experience with drafting, reviewing, and negotiating government contracts (preferably state and local municipal contracts).
The Opportunity:
Reporting to General Counsel, the Legal Counsel will be a key member of our Legal Team in overseeing, planning, organizing, and directing staff and legal work. The Counsel will be responsible for performing complex legal work and advising BusPatrol staff on a variety of legal issues.
Position Responsibilities:
- Counseling, drafting, and reviewing commercial contracts with vendors and suppliers, including subcontracts, service level agreements, license agreements, and non-disclosure agreements
- Counseling, negotiating, and drafting agreements with state and local government customers, including counties, cities, towns, and school districts
- Designing and delivering compliance programs to ensure that the company is meeting and exceeding all legal and ethical obligations
- Advising and managing extensive portfolio of new and ongoing legal matters, including contractual obligations and resolution of related commercial disputes
What You Bring:
- 5+ years’ experience working for an established law firm or as in-house counsel
- Extensive experience with drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts with vendors and suppliers, including subcontracts, service level agreements, license agreements, and non-disclosure agreements (must have experience with government contracts)
- Experience working with state and local procurement laws and policies, including competition requirements, contract terms and conditions, and freedom of information/public disclosure rules
- Experience/familiarity with drafting and negotiating lobbyist contracts and complying with ethical obligations related to engaging lobbyists
- D. or LL.M. in the United States
- Superior ability to manage concurrent projects and work to deadlines
- Good communication and interpersonal skills that can develop good working relationships with a diverse, dynamic, and fast-paced team
- Superior attention to detail, legal writing and editing ability, and written communication skills
- Significant experience using MS Office
- Experience with Wrike or similar project management software preferred
