Field Service Planning Director

Location:  Remote, Eastern Time Zone based  

Travel:  Less than 25% travel 

Manages Others:  Yes, 5-6 direct reports - Sr. Planners and Analysts 

Education:  Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field. APICS, ISM certification is preferred 

Experience:  Minimum 3-5 years of experience in similar resource planning management, S&OP requiring strong analytical capability; field service planning preferred; forecasting and demand management, or sales and operations planning in a manufacturing environment is required in lieu of field service experience; minimum of 3-5 years of experience in people management, having effective interpersonal and communication skills. Experience working with enterprise sized ERP systems including Salesforce, SAP, JD Edwards or similar is required

The Opportunity:

The Director of Field Service Planning will play an integral role that will lead the supply planning organization, supervise resource management across deployment initiatives, quality improvement, field service installation, and preventive maintenance within the global BusPatrol footprint. The Director of Field Service Planning will be responsible for managing all facets of BusPatrol Resource optimization, such as forecasting, scheduling, monitoring installations, monitoring implementations, and optimizing other operational activities while adjusting resources to meet business objectives.

  • Facilitates a structured and reliable demand and supply management process to support the delivery of field service business objectives and strategic plan for North America
  • Leads development of the demand forecast in close collaboration with key stakeholders as part of the monthly S&OP cycle and bi-annual budget planning process
  • Continuously analyzes demand forecasts and market signals in partnership with sales and operations to understand demand drivers and assumptions that inform supply planning scenarios and risks/opportunities relating to the medium- and long-term business plans
  • Analyzes existing data and industry best practices to identify patterns, trends, and relationships that offer meaningful insights into how we can optimize the customer experience and improve supply chain performance
  • Conducts forecast accuracy performance management activities and reviews with relevant business partners to drive continuous improvement
  • Acts as a change agent for continuous process improvement activities and align with and provide direction to Project Management resources for tactical execution plans
  • Review expected sales targets and operating plans and ensure the ultimate correct alignment and allocation of Field Service Technician resources.  
  • Manage BusPatrol Resource allocation, providing real-time oversight and taking appropriate action to meet service level goals and maximize efficiency for installation, implementation, and quality
  • Manage the Resource Planning organization. Establishes planning processes and ensure that staff are properly trained and in place
  • Ultimately ensure master schedule for global Field Service teams/operations, scheduling deployments, and ensuring on-time delivery to meet sales demands 
  • Establish a recurring process for resource optimization
  • Oversee assignment and staffing of all Field Execution groups
  • Maintain resource optimization model for project manager and technician deployment
  • Manage field resource and management dispatching tool (ERP field service module), including ticket creation and resource identification and deployment to address tickets
  • Support implementation of BusPatrol’s ERP system as an end-to-end business solution to streamline the resource planning process
  • Assign and staff all Field Execution groups to ensure proper field service coverage to meet fleet needs and deployment pipeline
  • Maintain awareness of all deployment / maintenance priorities and constraints, including installations, break-fix, and quality work

What You Bring: 

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in similar resource planning management, S&OP requiring strong analytical capability 
  • Field service planning preferred; forecasting and demand management or sales and operations planning in a manufacturing environment is required in lieu of field service experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in people management, having effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in business, engineering, supply chain, or other technical fields. 
  • Experience working with enterprise sized ERP systems including Salesforce, SAP, JD Edwards or similar is required
  • Professional certifications (e.g. CPIM/CSCP) and Membership in Professional Associations (e.g. APICS, ISM) preferred
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and assertive - willingness to push the organization in new and different ways
  • Proficiency with communicating business management key performance and key risk indicators using various platforms to senior leadership.
  • Highly proficient with Excel, with the ability to organize/analyze, import/export data in a structured manner.
  • Strong work ethic with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to understand strategic objectives of the installation projects you will help execute
