The Opportunity:

Reporting to the VP of Product Development, The Project Manager, Hardware Engineering, is a critical partner in our Product Development department who works cross functionally with Engineering to proactively drive product development projects and programs to success as a supported, yet autonomous leader who builds trust, and consistently deliver results on key technical and business initiatives. 

The ideal candidate will bring a solid set of project management and coordination skills along with a passion-for delivering on new products, features and installations of advanced  electro-mechanical systems that a powered machine vision, camera & sensor systems, AI, IoT, and related computer and hardware systems. This person will leverage experience with electrical or mechanical design and/or in working-with multiple mission critical product engineering initiatives and test projects.

What you will be doing:

  • Leading/helping cross-functional teams of product managers and engineers in the efficient development and production release of new products.
  • Serving as an advocate for your projects and be uncompromising in your commitment to the quality, thoroughness, and innovation of the products we drive to market.
  • Setting project timelines, tracking progress, budgeting and coordinating with other functional groups and teams to meet objectives.
  • Communicating effectively through-out project lifecycles with management and stakeholders to ensure issues are known and can be addressed as appropriate
  • Performing functions such as: reviewing or writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules, or purchasing of materials or services, etc.
  • Managing stakeholder expectations across multiple, simultaneous projects 
  • Engaging with teams to proactively participate in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Establishing and implementing training processes and strategies for all department technical personnel related to projects and programs
  • Curate Product & Program Roadmaps of internal and external projects
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to determine project priorities 
  • Analyzing, planning and developing project requirements, standards and schedules
  • Spearheading best Agile/ Scrum practices for hardware engineering team including running Scrum ceremonies such as standup, planning, and retro 
  • Coordinating, integrating acceptance testing with Product and Engineering teams 
  • Creating work breakdown structures and creation/execution of story planning with engineering team
  • Playing a key role in the management and coordination of product releases across both internally and externally facing projects
  • Determine and define clear deliverables, roles and responsibilities for staff members required for specific projects or initiatives
  • Assigning and overseeing the daily tasks of technical personnel while ensuring all individual contributors are actively working toward established milestones
  • Holding regular technical team meetings to determine progress and address any questions or challenges regarding projects

What You Bring:

  • Minimum of five years of applicable project management experience functioning in a similar role in an environment related to Product Development, R&D, Prototyping, Manufacturing, Assembly, Field Engineering, Test Development or similar environment.
  • Demonstrable ability to understand and communicate with/from schematics, blueprints, and user manuals.  
  • Experience overseeing cross-functional teams of technical and non-technical personnel where one takes business requirements and translates them into technical project plans
  • Experience governing standard project and product development processes/procedures including quality checks and audits tools, processes and reporting efforts
  • Budgetary and project planning experience
  • Experience in industries such as (but not limited to) electro-mechanical installed systems, buses, school buses, automotive, light rail, airplane, rail, manufacturing automation systems, etc. valued 
  • Experience with the principals of Agile and the use of scheduling tools and systems such as Jira
  • Travel: Occasional, limited travel as needed for relevant customer, vendor, and BusPatrol’s training, etc.  
  • Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or a combination of experience, skills, experience, technical acumen and project management considered.
