We are actively looking to hire and train Field Service Technician (National) to fill our Field Service Technician role to help modernize school buses. We are looking to hire in: Dutchess County, NY; Buffalo, NY; Suffolk County, NY

We are hiring levels 2 and 3. Levels are based on years of experience.

  • Level 2: 3-5 years of experience
  • Level 3: 5-10 years of experience

 

Responsibilities: 

Apply technical knowledge and experience to solve complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturers’ manuals or similar documents. You are the subject matter expert in the field, mentoring other field service technicians, and assisting with complicated/non-standard field service issues.  This includes: 

 

  • Perform installations of our Triton Safety System and partner products
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair units while in the field 
  • Possess a deep knowledge and understanding of electrical principles 
  • Champion quality and safety standards with all team members and partners
  • Deliver on your assigned install and repair quantities 
  • Record and communicate daily deliverables to team leads in a timely manner

  • Follow all safety guidelines 
  • Maintain a professional appearance
  • Execute additional duties and responsibilities as assigned 

 

Knowledge and skill requirements: 

 

  • Advanced proficiency in operating a variety of standard hand and power tools, analog/digital test equipment, and CCTV testing devices 
  • Advanced proficiency in all field service skills: 
  • Reading and understanding install manuals, service manuals, electrical schematics, CAD drawings, and related documents in low voltage applications 
  • Running wires, managing cables, connecting components, mounting devices, and effectively solving problems while maintaining a high-quality standard 
  • Using diagnostic equipment & software to isolate wiring issues, network connectivity issues, equipment failures, and operational anomalies 
  • Using signal flow expertise to trace and resolve network cable issues 
  • Effectively terminating and testing basic connections such as butt splices, insulated connectors, terminal strips/blocks, others 
  • Installing and terminating sub-devices (e., patch panels, junction boxes) and head-end equipment to include power and proper grounding 
  • Able to provide diagnostic support and instruction to other team members, partners, and customers – in person, by phone and/or online 
  • Able to effectively self-manage, follow daily travel and dispatch instructions, and report updates to managers 
  • Proficient in using a tablet, email, Microsoft Word/Excel 
  • Comfort with a physically demanding job in a variety of environments
  • Ability to lift 75lbs to shoulder height
  • Ability to stand or kneel for extended periods of time
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Pass drug screening

Other requirements: 

  • You will travel up to 80% across North America. Our work happens when school buses are not running. As such, you are willing to work overtime, nights, and weekends when required

Education & experience: 

  • Associates degree from a trade, vocational or technical school degree is strongly preferred 
  • High school diploma and GED required
  • Technician service experience in an applicable field:
  • 12-volt electronics installs and service, OR
  • GPS or fleet telemetry installs and service, OR
  • Fire alarm installs and service, OR
  • Access control, CCTV, or intercom systems, OR
  • School or other transit bus mechanic
  • Auto mechanics experience and ASE certifications (Automotive Service Excellence) preferred
