Business Operations and Strategy

Location:  Remote (prefer Eastern US location however willing to consider candidates located anywhere in the US).

We are devoted to making the journey to and from school safer and care about student safety. We develop partnerships, deploy Safety Tech for communities and school districts, and provide lifecycle program management for that technology while educating tens of thousands of drivers each month on student safety. We have equipped thousands of buses across North America with our innovative stop-arm enforcement technology and have an incredible growth pipeline of many thousands more.

General Summary:

The Business Operations and Strategy group is on the Business Excellence team; it is both a strategic decision-support team that works with the most senior executives and board to develop strategy and an operational team that incubates the most critical capabilities and analytical processes for roll-out to enable the smooth operation of a company. It has exposure and purview to every aspect of the organization and is tasked to both develop and execute the agenda that will lead to the highest value business improvements. These could range from developing predictive analytics models, running field teams, running quality improvement efforts, driving process or product design initiatives, or standing up new organizations and functions within BusPatrol

This role will report to the Vice President of Business Excellence.  Positions at various tenure levels are available based on the candidate’s experience.

What you will do: 

  • Work with our senior executive team to re-shape the organization and support all major strategic decisions and agendas (e.g., sales strategy and targeting, field strategy, field execution, process improvement, quality, implementation optimization, organizational enablement, tools/systems development, and training).
  • Develop ‘plan of attack’ for executing the agenda, including timing, team, tools, analytics, and processes.
  • Lead a wide array of projects with cross-functional leaders and internal stakeholders to execute those strategies and opportunities, for example:
  • Field operations (e.g., resource planning, quality and fleet uptime, partner network management)
  • Citation operations (processing efficiency, product and tool refinement development)
  • Recruiting (funnel and channel optimization)
  • Sales (sales operations and targeting strategy)
  • Special Board projects
  • Tool and system selection and implementation 
  • Set an example of excellence for the organization by establishing an operating rhythm, reporting, metrics, and KPIs to both refine strategic agenda and evaluate project performance.

What you will bring:

  • 1+ years direct hands-on development and execution of BizOps/strategy with at least 3-4 years experience in operations, engineering, finance, GSC, etc.
  • A bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (Engineering, Operations, Business Administration, Finance or similar) is required; MBA is preferred, will also consider applicable Ph.D.’s with relevant work experience. 
  • Experience working in top tier consulting firms or completion of leadership or engineering rotational programs with strong business acumen is preferred. 
  • A “Flexible athlete” mentality, comfort with change and ambiguity, excited to learn new topics and chase solutions that will lead to the highest organizational value.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand organizational objectives develop strategic agenda using business modeling and data-driven methods.
  • Ability to develop logical and structured project plans which consider many aspects and constraints of a project.
  • A proven track record of leadership, people management, and effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and assertive - willingness to push the organization in new and different ways.
  • Fluency with data management and analysis, with expert skill sets in Microsoft Excel, and willingness to learn other tools as necessary.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills – ability to build logical storylines and influence in multiple situations.
  • A willingness to occasionally travel:  Travel is project-dependent based on need. We operate effectively remotely, but candidates should be comfortable with North America travel that can range from 0-50% for duration of field-related and occasional travel to headquarter locations.
