Training Manager

Location: Remote (Eastern Time Zone) 

Travel: up to 20%, as needed for onsite instruction and to develop relationships with content experts  

Education: Bachelors degree required, Masters degree preferred  

Experience:  5 years experience in related operations instructional design and training curriculum deployment with a demonstrated ability to understand training needs and model/organize information effectively. Proficient with LMS, MS Office, and other presentation software/platforms

The Opportunity: 

Reporting to the VP of Business Excellence, this position's objective is to increase competencies and performance of Citation Operations staff through training and development with an emphasis on operational training (processing citations, preparing evidence packages, reviewing violations, tracking violations, etc.). The Training & Development Manager (Citations) is responsible for managing the daily activities and delivery of BusPatrol Citation Operations training programs (video reviewing, evidence processing, quality assurance, correspondence, and call center roles).  This will be achieved through the collaborative development of training, including designing or securing relevant coursework and curriculum, facilitation of training, and the administration of processes to track outcomes. This role conducts training needs assessments, evaluates, and modifies training programs as required. 

What you will do: 

  • Working with Citation Operations SMEs to design and develop dynamic instructional interactions and create interactive, engaging course content for citation operations via various MS Office and other tools including PowerPoint and Word, and our LMS system 
  • Develop end-to-end training materials from course outlines and objectives to module structure and knowledge reviews/assessments administered in an LMS.   
  • Develops both classrooms and on-the-job programs to enhance functional expertise and brand knowledge/ operational skills of all Citations Operations team members. 
  • Utilizes the LMS (currently TalentLMS) to deploy and track training execution, and develop effective learning paths that drive results.  
  • Organize and execute training sessions, including managing logistics and coordination of the trainees and trainers, preparing and actively coaching trainers to improve facilitation, and collecting feedback for continuous improvement.  
  • Continuously monitor training content to ensure it is organized and up to date.  
  • Work in partnership with the corporate Head of Training and other training roles for the company to ensure strong learning foundations are built for BP, including methodologies, approaches, and processes for consistency.  
  • Provide thought leadership around evaluation of course effectiveness and continuously improve the training programs to drive improved results (and willingness to identify process improvements during training process discovery to improve business results).  
  • Conducts follow-up studies of all completed training to evaluate and measure results. 
  • Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization. 
  • Works effectively as a team member with other members of management and the training.  
  • Provide oversight and professional development to the SME facilitators and other training teams. 
  • May assist other operational Training Managers as needed.  

 Top Skills/Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required. Master’s degree preferred. 
  • 5 years experience in related operations instructional design and training curriculum deployment with a demonstrated ability to understand training needs and model/organize information effectively.  
  • Adult course and curriculum development experience is required. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency utilizing MS Office Suite, other presentation software for webinars, advanced skills in Word and PowerPoint LMS / SCORM / Video, exam development, evaluations, etc., and familiarity with web-based teaching and learning. 
  • Experience using an LMS to upload, deploy and track training activities.  
  • Mastery of oral, written, presentation and facilitation skills. Strong public speaking skills with the ability to engage learners throughout trainings and learning opportunities. 
  • Ability to design, develop and deliver functional skills training aligned with business goals and initiatives to drive results in a performance-based learning culture. Knowledge of instructional design methodologies and various delivery methods. 
  • Experience developing training for step-by-step processes and technology/software applications is strongly preferred; experience with training for Confluence, Slack, and home-grown applications is also preferred.  
  • Critical and rational thinking ability is required; ability to take abstract applications and processes and translate them into tangible, comprehensible, course outlines, and learning materials. 
  • Ability to recognize performance improvement opportunities and gaps and clearly identify and articulate options and tools available to help drive desired behavior.  
  • Ability to apply knowledge of multidisciplinary business principles and practices to achieve successful outcomes in cross-functional projects and activities.
